BOSTON — New Bedford will see 'significant' increases in the FY2023 state budget, including in unrestricted aid and school funding, according to state Sen. Mark Montigny, D-New Bedford. Montigny has announced that the Fiscal Year 2023 state budget includes a 5.4% increase in unrestricted aid to the city, totaling $26,647,658. The final budget also provides $199,086,038 in chapter 70 school funding for New Bedford, a 14.6% increase over fiscal year 2022. 'This historic state funding is critical for our children's future,' said Montigny in a press release.
