This is a photo of hazmat crews at an apartment building in New Bedford. NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — A hazardous materials incident at a 10-story apartment building in New Bedford on Wednesday sent six people to the hospital after chemicals were sent through the building's ventilation system. According to the New Bedford Fire Department, crews responded to the Tripp Towers on Ruth Street after a fire alarm was activated. Firefighters began investigating the incident as a light smoke condition but quickly realized a pest control contractor was fumigating the building.
